Hecate
The Veil shudders…and I know I’m about to lose everything I’ve spent three thousand years protecting.
I am the overworked magical duct tape of Sanctuary Cove. For millennia, my Veil hides our little seaside town full of monsters and misfits from human eyes.
Until it doesn’t.
Seventy-two hours without sleep, eighteen emergency patches, one catastrophic magical backlash…and the Veil shatters. Sanctuary Cove is suddenly visible to every curious human, every hunter with a boat and a grudge.
And my magic? Burned out. Empty. Done.
That’s when the mountain wakes up.
A dragon rises out of the old volcano like something out of myth: copper scales, molten-gold eyes, and way too many opinions about how I run my town. Ignis calls my people a “hoard” and my Lighthouse “territory,” moves onto my roof like it’s the most natural thing in the world, and insists I stop trying to die for everyone else.
He guards the town while I heal.
He makes coffee exactly how I like it.
He looks at me like I’m treasure instead of a tired witch who’s failing her job.
Hunters close in. The mountain rumbles. My magic refuses to bounce back fast enough. If Sanctuary Cove is going to survive, I have to do the one thing I’ve avoided for three thousand years:
Share the burden.
Trust the dragon.
And decide whether to bind my life and magic to someone who hoards lonely hearts instead of gold.
I protect this town.
He protects me.
Together, we might just have a future…if I’m brave enough to claim it.
A Cozy MF Lizardy Lick featuring a battle-tired witch, a territorial dragon who’s forgotten how to care about his hoard, and the small monster town that refuses to let either of us go.
