In Mintwood, where witchy is the new normal, nothing is ever simple. When an opportunity arrises for Lemmi and her friends to spend a weekend away at a beautiful country club, they jump at the chance. At least, Charlie and Lemmi do. Greer is less certain. The weekend means spending time with her family and hobnobbing with the rich and powerful, but at least there are no mysteries to solve. Everything is calm until the resort manager is found dead.

So much for a relaxing weekend.Everything is going along swimmingly for Lemmi and her friends, if swimmingly means that her aunt has left, she still isn't very good at her profession (magic), there hasn't been a case in weeks, and she's still pining after Jasper Wolf. Sure, everything is fine. It's almost excellent.

All of Lemmi and her friends' problems are about to change, though. A new store is opening up in town, and with it comes a flood of curiosity and a skeleton. Now that there's a case to solve, the Witch of Mintwood is on it. Finally going on a date with Jasper Wolf is a minor distraction -- where minor is an ocean.
